This is a Lifestyle post/review that I really wanted to share because it has made me SO happy :)
I have no make‐up days and walk‐the‐red carpet make‐up days but most fall somewhere in the middle.
My go to look is a 10 minute and I’m out the door process. I don a loop, messy or topknot bun put on some tinted moisturizer, powder, mascara, shea butter chapstick and call it good.
However, despite these cultivated efforts, every selfie still showed my face looking rather dull. Contempt for my lighter‐than‐my‐hair eyebrows grew. I have light brown hair so my color lacking, sparse brows seemed to wash out my entire face. The simple solution is of course to use any one of the incredible eyebrow products available, but my sloppy pencil and powder skills did not fit into my “10 minutes and I’m ready to go” lifestyle. It’s a catch 22, what’s a gal to do?
After some googling on eyebrow products, I quickly came across Micro‐blading, a form of eyebrow tattooing. Immediately I thought of horrendously tattooed brows that look like a sharpie was let loose above the eyes but the before and after pictures I found told a different story. Micro‐blading is the manual semi‐permanent tattooing of individual blades of hair with a tiny x‐acto knife and color applied into the strokes.
The procedure costs anywhere from $500‐$2,500 depending on where you live and who your artist is. I didn’t have the money lying around but I thought this might be something worth saving for. I’ve done brow tinting in the past and that gave a decent result but I still would have to shape in the sparse areas and the color faded quickly; I was in need of a more permanent solution. I decided to give Groupon a quick search and as luck would have it, I found ONE deal for micro‐blading! (which has Ebates btw, so I got money back on it!)
I reached out to the gal and found out she had been doing micro‐blading for a bigger company in our area and decided to branch out on her own and was offering a half‐off special for new clients. I considered this a sign and took her up on that discount immediately. She also had a great portfolio; I don’t recommend going with the cheapest option just to save money, this is a tattoo on your face after all.
We met for a consult, discussed the procedure, eyebrow shape, color, and healing process, and then booked the date.
You’re probably wondering, does it hurt? Yes, a little. Numbing cream is applied and you can always ask for more if you feel like it is starting to wear off. The session takes a couple of hours and the aftercare is somewhat annoying. It takes about 10 days to heal fully; you can’t work out for a few days or get your brows wet.
As they heal, they will look really dark, intense, and shiny, because of the recovery balm but that goes away after a few days. Once healed, I couldn’t believe how much I loved my brows! Waking up to a well‐framed face with zero effort is an incredible feeling!
A micro‐blading procedure includes a follow‐up session about a month later to monitor how it healed, fill in sparse areas, make any needed adjustments, and address any concerns you may have. After that, the upkeep is a touch‐up appointment about once a year!
I am thrilled with my experience, result and definitely recommend this treatment for anyone not loving his or her brows. Now my 10 minute out the door look is complete!
I wanted to talk about this because it brings me so much JOY! To not spend time filling in my eyebrows in the morning is such a relief for me. I'm so glad that I thought it through, found a great deal and made the decision to invest a little bit into myself for the purpose of my joy. It has been a well worth it experience for me.
